A wonderful day

Sunday March 14
We had a wonderful first full day for the tour, and have not had much time to get on the computer.

The day started with a great buffet breakfast at the Penta Hotel We were then divided into three walking tour groups for a 2 hour walking tour of the Innenstadt - a historic part of Leipzig where all roads are closed to traffis, and pedestrians and cyclists rule.

We ended at St Thomas Kirche where we had our first concert - in the church where J. S. Bach worked as music director for 27 years. It went really well and Richard was quite emotional about it.

After lunch on our own we gathered in the hotel lobby to launch our bus transfer to Halle, where we engaged in a wonderful concert with the Samuel Scheidt Singers of Berlin. Acoustics in the Aula at Martin Luther University were really wonderful, and we all sounded great.

Here's a link to an Internet report that includes something about our concert in Halle.

We concluded with evening meal in a Hall restaurant and then back to the hotel.

Must rush to breakfast; today we head out to Eisenach, birthplace of Bach and Wartburg Castle where Luther hid out and translated the Bible into German - for the people to read on their own.
