We sing with Musika Viva in Vienna

Our last evening in Vienna is a singing engagement with the local choir, Musica Viva, directed by Florian Zaunmayer. We will sing at a church associated with a large RC Centre. It's called Lainz-Speizing. We went there first for a rehearsal, partly with the host choir as the plan was to do 2 numbers together. Richard will conduct Moazart's Ave Verum at the beginning and we will end with an Austrian folk song, Gern Habm Tuat Guat, conducted by Mr. Zaunmayer. Our bus driver, found the place easily, and we all headed in. I think some were dissappointed as it wasn't a beautiful old church as we had experienced elsewhere. This was a modern building, largely out of poured concrete - like Brantford City Hall. Never-the-less, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, and our hosts very friendly, and after all, that's what really counts.

Here's a photo of the 2 choirs together on stage.

At the end we join to sing the Austrian Volkslied with the beautiful melody and touching words. It was a great crowd pleaser, and a good way to end the evening of music in Vienna. After that we file off to the back rooms, where we exchange presentations of gifts. Then we all head off to a local restaurant for a meal, and some really good socializing.
