Beware the "Ides of March" is true, and we should have paid heed.
I lost my warm cap, and my good glasses, somewhere along the way on Monday. Also the group was behind the schedule for most of the day (too much packed into the plans). On the way back to Leipzig we got lost - the driver had problems and then got to a an underpass without enough clearance, so we had to make a big Umweg. And there was more!
The good news is that we had a great time in Eisenach, the birthplace of Bach. It's also where Martin Luther hid out at Wartburg Castle, where he translated the Bible (new testament) into German.
Everyone was impressed with Wartburg Castle; the view from there was magnificent, and the local guides/interpreters were top notch.
Today was our day for DW TV to follow us around, and Uta, the camera person reporter from Berlin did a fantastic job recording 4 hours of material which she will edit for a five minute spot on the DW TV show, Discover Germany, on April 10th. Andy and Cara Blacwood of Simcoe were the stars, with the choir providing the backdrop and context. One bonus was that instead of singing outside Wartburg Castle for the TV spot, we got to sing within the great hall - one used by many great musicians over the years - including Wagner. See picture.
We went to Bach Haus Museum, and had a great demonstration of period instruments. Members of our group got some hands-on experience.
Later back in Leipzig we had our last meal in a great place, the Thuringer Hof. Cousin Gerhard and wife Marita joined us at our table. members of the group got to meet him.

Two great memories from Eisenach and the Wartburg Castle are singing 'Locus Iste' in the chapel where Luther once worshipped, and then standing in Luther's room, looking at his desk. Words fail me.
